PostDoc position at at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria

The Institute of Politics and Social Policy at the Johannes Kepler University invites applications for a full-time post-doctoral tenure track position. The position is for six years initially and will turn into a professorship of Political Science (§ 99) upon completion of the requirements specified in a tenure track agreement.

Job Profile: Political Science with a Specialization on Policy Analysis and Austrian Politics

Applicants should be qualified in the analysis of government institutions and domestic political dynamics. We expect expertise about the Austrian political system or willingness to become familiar with the topic. A focus on policy analysis and on or several substantive policy fields is necessary; we would welcome research interests in the context of social policy research or adjacent fields (such as health, family or pension policy, occupational welfare, local social policy, social services, labor market policy, public health, etc.).

Teaching obligations are in all three of the institute’s degree programs (BA and MA in Socio-Economics and our international MA Program in Comparative Social Policy and Welfare).

We expect several years of research and teaching experience after the Ph.D., as well as excellent publications. International publications and conference presentations are required; international work experience would be of advantage.

The successful candidate will lead a junior research group with two Ph.D. students. Therefore, applications should include a project proposal of 3000 – 4000 words, outlining a research agenda in one of the issue areas sketched above, its contribution to the relevant literature, possible research questions in its context and methods used to answer the questions. The quality and innovativeness of this project proposal will play an important role in reviewing and evaluating applications.

Salary will range from 3,590.70 EUR per month (14 monthly salaries p.a.).
