This half-day session is oriented towards empirically-lead discussions on childcare and interventions in the early years. Specific attention will be given to the Spanish context and its territorial complexity although within a comparative framework and broader academic debates.

9.30-11.30h   DISCUSSION TOPICS: – Inequality, child poverty and issues of redistribution – Intersecting and intergenerational inequalities – Equal opportunities for vulnerable children

11.45-13.30h DISCUSSION TOPICS: – The politics of investing in children/public opinion. – Different forms of governance and impact on access and quality of childcare – Access to childcare (efficiency of targeted versus universal programmes – Quality of childcare and early years education
