Call for Papers, 4 April 2025 – Leuven
After a successful edition in Rotterdam, the regional European Social Policy Analysis Network (ESPAnet) chapter from the Netherlands and Flanders (ESPAnet Low Countries) is coming to Leuven in 2025! Don’t miss the chance to see an interactive and entertaining intergenerational dialogue amongst three generations of social policy scholars at the Early Career Researchers’ Day and discuss how to bridge academic research and policymaking. But mostly take the opportunity to present your work in progress and receive valuable and constructive feedback. Are you working on a paper? Or maybe a grant proposal you’ve been thinking about? And is your research in some way related to social policy? We’d love to have you present your work on Friday, the 4th of April 2025, at the Early Career Researchers’ Day at KU Leuven.
Here are three key pieces of information:
- For PhD candidates, junior researchers, and postdocs interested in presenting on 4 April
Scholars working on a PhD or postdoc, or junior researchers, are encouraged to submit an abstract for a presentation. Two things to keep in mind: 1) any work in progress is welcome. You can present slides on a new research question or submit a full draft paper—whatever will be most useful for feedback. 2) The work should relate to social policy, covering aspects such as analysis, outcomes, engagement, or attitudes. Interdisciplinary perspectives are welcome but not required.
To submit an abstract, please email espanetnlvl@gmail.com by 20 December 2024. Abstracts should include a working title, a brief problem description, and the question or issue for discussion (250-300 words). Note: final papers or presentation slides must be submitted by 21 March 2025. Senior scholars will provide feedback for the discussion following your presentation at the Early Career Researchers’ Day.
2. For senior social policy scholars able to provide feedback on 4 April (postdoc and above)
Your participation as a feedback provider will be invaluable to the success of the Early Career Researchers’ Day. If you are attending and willing to provide constructive feedback (written or oral) to an early career researcher, please email espanetnlvl@gmail.com.
3. Registration for 4 April and mailing list ESPAnet low countries
Would you like to register to the event without presenting a paper? Please complete the following registration form: https://forms.gle/6vGkRtgGmWX6ZE5F6. Unable to join us on 4 April but still want updates from ESPAnet low countries? Please do complete the form and indicate you are not attending on that day.
Feel free to share this information with interested colleagues. We look forward to receiving your abstracts and registrations. For questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best wishes from the organizing team,
