The Conference ‘POVERTY, INEQUALITY AND ITS IMPACTS FOLLOWING THE FINANCIAL CRISIS’
will be held in Sigtuna, Sweden. Deadline for the Call for papers is 18 March 2016.
The Foundation for International Studies on Social Security (FISS) is pleased to invite paper proposals for its 24th International Conference to be held on 19-21 June 2016 at the Sigtunahöjden conference centre in Sigtuna, Sweden.
This year’s conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on how trends in globalisation, demographic transitions and the impact of financial and other crises are raising challenges for the role and objectives of social protection systems. What are their primary goals, how should they be achieved and what are their impacts on poverty, employment, social mobility and inequality? The conference will provide a forum for researchers and policy makers to come together to discuss these and other issues related to the design, financing, delivery and impact of social security provisions, broadly defined to include health care systems.
Keynote speakers:
o Tim Smeeding – Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Public Affairs and Economics, University of Wisconsin-Madison
o Mary Daly – Professor of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Oxford
o Martin Evans – Senior Advisor Child Poverty, Social Inclusion, Budgeting and Policy, UNICEF
o Holly Sutherland – Research Professor and Director of EUROMOD, Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex
